Elegant Legal Writing extended contents and book trailer
Here’s the extended table of contents and a video trailer for Ryan McCarl’s book Elegant Legal Writing.
My book Elegant Legal Writing (U. Cal. Press 2024) will be published in just a few weeks (Feb. 6) and is available for preorder; it’s the top new release in its genre on Amazon, and the pre-launch sales and buzz have been promising. I’d like the book to be thought of as belonging among the top 3–5 trade books on litigation writing alongside Ross Guberman’s Point Made, Bryan Garner’s Legal Writing in Plain English, and other leading works.
Elegant Legal Writing is an ideal supplemental text for legal writing courses, but its target audience is practitioners. I hope the book will be purchased by attorneys aiming to improve their briefs and generate discussions by offering a fresh perspective. I also look forward to meeting many attorneys, scholars, and students, including by giving talks at law firms and conferences.
I am grateful to my fellow legal-prose aficionados who have helped me raise awareness of the book by reposting and commenting on my articles on LinkedIn and other platforms. Keep reading to watch a two-minute trailer about the book and review its extended table of contents, which can also serve as a writing checklist once you’ve read the book.
